Class Description:

 This will be an intensive and fast-paced course design to improve the student’s oral communication skills.  This will be accomplished through daily practice with speaking, projects, and becoming aware of the components and patterns of every day communication.  Our goal will be clarity of communication, ease of expression, and the development of public presentational skills.  We will be involved with writing speeches, doing research, and conducting interviews; and the students can expect to experience a wide range of communication situations where they will have to work well with others to achieve results. 

Class Calendar

First Quarter 

Module 1:

Introduction to Oral Comm /Vocabulary and concepts (1 week)

Interpersonal, intrapersonal, and informal communication (1 ½ weeks)

Module 2:

Group Communication (3 weeks)

Module 3:

Voice Mechanics/Oral Interpretation (3 weeks)

Second Quarter

Module 4:

 Listening Skills and Media (2 weeks)

Module 5:

Research and Organization: The Informative Speech (3 weeks)

Persuasive Speaking - final  (3 weeks)
