Welcome to Mrs. James's 8th grade English class!

Class Description: This class is dedicated to the study of reading, writing, grammar, speaking, and research skills.  Students will be given options for self-selected reading and writing.  Lessons will focus on how effective writers craft their pieces, and connections will be made to published pieces of literature.  Students will learn reading comprehension strategies, 6 Traits of Effective Writing, and the fundamentals of grammar and writing. 

A variety of methods will be used during the year  including projects, presentations, lectures, guided practice (in class), independent practice (homework), films, learning games, computer lab and library work, daily warm-ups, quizzes, and tests.
