Welcome to 8th grade English with Mrs. Paxton!  I am looking forward to the 2011-2012 school year and am excited about working with all of you! 
Please read through the syllabus to become familiar with our classroom expectations and procedures. Parents AND students must sign the information sheet, returning it to me as soon as possible. 
Keep the syllabus for your reference throughout the year.
 

Course Overview:  

· Complete the steps of the writing process via small writing assignments, Writer’s Notebooks, and  at least one formal essay per 9-week period. 
· Study literary elements and figurative language in text; experiment with it in original writing. 
Improve his/her reading proficiency  and written expression over the course of the year.  

· Improve grammar and  vocabulary.

 

 
ATTENTION: Most handouts and assignments are available here, under "lecture materials and handouts."  Please print these at home and complete during snow days.  Quizzes can be made up during an A day seminar.  Those are the only days I am at LJHS.
