Class Descriptions:

English III:  In English III, students will read and study the works of noted authors including poets, playwrights, and novelists.  Students will format a writing portfolio, participate in Socratic seminar, improve note-taking, work together as a group, research a variety of topics, write, analyze, complete projects, and use technology. All students will prepare for and take the End of Course Literacy exam in March.

Advanced Placement English Language and Composition:  AP English Language and Composition is a one-year college level course in which students complete an in-depth analytical study of rhetorical methods used in expository and argumentation composition modes.  Students will produce expository and argumentative writings following the study of distinguished contemporary nonfiction essays and books.  Students will also write research papers, practice timed AP writings and multiple choice and maintain a writing portfolio.  All AP English Language and Composition students are expected to take the AP English Language and Composition Exam in May.
