Class Description:  

Spanish I & II is a full year course designed to enhance development and understanding of the language by studying increasingly complex topics involving the use of more sophisticated language structures, grammar tenses, and vocabulary.

 Specific objectives will include:

 §  Students will spend classroom time in Spanish

 §  Students will read Spanish advertisements, magazine articles, newspapers, and short stories

 §  Students will compose basic expository paragraphs in Spanish

 §  Students will use Spanish to handle basic survival situations

Spanish for Native Speakers: This course is designed to meet the communicative needs of the first- and second-generation Spanish-speaking student (non-ESOL Spanish heritage learner) who needs to fine-tune his/her reading and writing skills. Emphasis is placed on developing fundamental literacy skills in Spanish. Students will learn phonetics, proper grammar, spell­ing, and building a more extensive and diverse vocabulary. This course is taught in Spanish and prepares students to advance to upper-level Spanish courses.
