         Communication Arts

                   &   Forensics

Teacher: Mrs. Cornwell
School:
 Lincoln Jr. High School

COMMUNICATION ARTS : Through this semester long course, students develop multiple communication skills through performance and other creative activities.  We learn how to use our self to communicate effectively and creatively by studying the following: Theater, Voice & Diction, Poetry, Acting Techniques, Persuasive Speaking, Design Elements, Plot Structures, and Character Developments.  About half of this class is performance based in some form, we also work on writing, designing, and reading.

FORENSICS: Through this year long course, students learn the fundamentals of speech, drama, and performance competition in the world of forensics.  Each class member is also on the LJHS forensics team. We compete at tournaments throughout the year.  This forensics class is competitive speaking & performing, it is not forensic science (the CSI stuff) :) .  The word "forensics" actually is derived from the latin word, meaning "before the courts or judge" -- in our case we are performing (entertaining) before the courts and judges. After school and weekend time commitment is part of being on the LJHS Forensics team and part of the class.
