Algebra 1 and Geometry

Algebra 1 Description:  Algebra I is a full year, intense mastery course.  Students will demonstrate mastery in the areas of number operations, measurement, data analysis and probability, and Algebra.  Students will engage in lectures, taking notes, using manipulatives, completing activities, and engaging with technology.  Throughout this course there is a focus on algebraic equations, linear equations, and quadratic equations.
 
Geometry Description:  Geometry is a full year course.  Students should have successfully completely Algebra 1 prior to enrollment; algebraic properties will be used throughout the course in the solution of problems.  In geometry students will study properties of triangles, quadrilaterals, and other polygons, perimeter, area of both two- and three-dimensional figures, volume, orthographic and isometric drawings, circles and their segments, arcs, and angles, inductive and deductive reasoning, conditionals, similarities and congruences, parallel and perpendicular lines and associated angles, Pythagorean theorem, special right triangles, trigonometric ratios, transformations and tessellations.
