Class Description:

    

7th Grade Pre-AP English  is a daily class that focuses on stretching each student’s already advanced reading and writing skills even more.  Students will be required to read a variety of more advanced texts which will be arranged around various themes. We will begin implementation of the national Common Core Standards this year. Students will write extensively and will move through the analytical writing process with instruction on expanded essay structure, and they will be introduced to the MLA format for documentation. Students will read more advanced novels from the suggested AP Reading List, in preparation for the future AP exam. Class discussion will include higher level inference skills as well as participation in Socratic circles and literature circles.
