Mrs. McElfresh's Pre-AP Language Arts

Teacher: Brenna McElfresh

Contact: bmcelfresh@bentonvillek12.org

School: Lincoln Junior High School

Class Description:

Pre-AP Language Arts combines writing, grammar & punctuation, literature analysis, independent reading, vocabulary study, and word play through analogies and logic puzzles into a daily ninety minute class.  Students draft, edit, revise and finally create final copies of a variety of different writing pieces including narrative, descriptive, opinion, persuasive, and compare/contrast.   Certain required books are studied as a whole class, but students are always expected to be working on self-selected independent read and completing reading logs.  Students are not issued textbooks, but books are available for checkout to use as a resource at home.
