Class Descriptions:

Computer Applications 1, 2 & 3:

Computer Applications 1, 2, and 3 are one semester courses that comprise a self-paced, mastery-based curriculum.  Students work individually through lessons.  When a student demonstrates 80% mastery of a lesson, he/she may proceed to the following lesson.  Students may "challenge" a lesson by requesting to complete an assessment.  Computer Applications provides students with the computer skills necessary to do well in high school and needed in virtually all jobs today.  Students will use the following software:  Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Publisher, and Expression Web.

Internship:

Internship is a capstone course for all students in programs of study leading to a career goal.  Internships rely on well-defined partnerships between high schools, business communities, post-secondary institutions and apprecticeship programs.  The purpose of the program is to help students successfully transition from a high school environment to the environment of their chosen career field.  Students will be scheduled into 5th & 6th hours and will receive one credit for class instruction and one credit for work.  Students must work a minimum of 10-12 hours per week.  Students must also maintain membership in the student organization related to their CTE focus. ( FBLA, FCCLA, DECA, HOSA, FFA, Skills USA)

Applicants must realize that acceptance in the Internship program is competitive and limited.  Many factors contribute to a successful placement, and (as in real life) an application does not guarantee acceptance as an intern.
