Medical Procedures

Course Description: Medical Procedures is a one semester course designed to provide students with the basic information and skills needed to decide and apply to the appropriate medical courses of study. This course will also require you to participate in some “hands on” medical/safety type procedures. Some of the topics of study are Safety, Infection control, First Aid, Vital signs and the business side of healthcare delivery systems. There will also be a college/healthcare profession presentation that the student will be responsible for completing and presenting in class. During the semester there will be various guest speakers from the local healthcare/business community. 

Human Behaviors & Disorders

Course Description: Human Behaviors & Disorders is a one semester course designed to address the rapidly expanding role of technology in the healthcare field. This course also encompasses the history of psychology, research methods, major theories, and applications of the knowledge to the problems and challenges faced by today's health care professstionals.  Other areas addressed are biological foundations of behavior, emotion, personality, psychological disorders and methods of therapy.

Medical Terminology

Course Description: Medical Terminology is a one semester course designed to assist students in developing the language used for communication in the health care profession. Areas of study include but are not limited to the following: fundamental word structures, terminology for diagnostic and imaging procedures, and general medical terms for body systems.
