Class: Computer Lab                 Grade Level: Third and Fourth Grade
Description: The class objective is to align the student's knowledge and ability to district, state, and national standards using age appropriate computer terms and skills. Students are given hands on experience on the computer to best learn the history, parts, and programs. Each student spends 60 minutes a week in the Computer Lab.
 
 

Class: Fast ForWord                Grade Level: All Grade Levels

Description: The selected students spend 30 minutes every day working on Fast ForWord in Ms. Carie’s or Ms. Stacy’s lab.  Each student takes a pre-test and assigned to a Fast ForWord product best for them.  The students are then monitored by a teacher and teaching assistant, who will adjust the assignments, encourage the students, intervene when student is having difficulties, and celebrate as each student progresses through the program! 
 
From www.scilearn.com:  “The Fast ForWord program develops and strengthens memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing—the cognitive skills essential for reading intervention program success. The strengthening of these skills results in a wide range of improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, grammar, and other skills necessary to learn how to read or to become a better reader.”
 
 

Class: Grizzly Gazette              Grade Level: Third and Fourth Grade

Description:  The Grizzly Gazette is a monthly publication that is sent home with every student in their Tuesday folders.  The Grizzly Gazette is created by third and fourth grade students.  The students create, design, research, interview, and write the newsletter each month.

Let's Say Thanks!

​In remembrance of our Veterans we created e-cards to say Thank You to the men and women of our Armed Forces.  Our cards were sent to Xerox to be printed and distributed to our military personnel around the world.

Word Processing

​We are working in small groups to create a book in MS Word 2010.  Each group was given a character, a location, and a situation for their book.  The have to work together to create, design, illustrate, write, and publish their story.  I cannot wait for...

 
Internet and Internet Safety

  • Phineas and Ferb (commonsense.org) to help go over our safety rules.
  • NSTeens (netsmartzkids.org) to see consequences to our choices.
  • Netsmartzkids (netsmartzkids.org) to reinforce what we have learned.

History and Future of Computers

We covered over 5000 years of Technology!!!
 
We discussed the History of Computers ... It all began in the year 3000 BC when the Abacus was invented!  We also discussed the Future of Computers ... Holographic screens are about 5 - 10 years away from...

​This school year has been zooming by!  With all the new technology in the classrooms and new programs in the lab things have not slowed down this year!  I am working on updating my website ... so continue to check back!!!
