Welcome to Curriculum!

Common Core Standards in literacy and mathematics represent a ratcheting up of standards that teachers teach and that students are expected to learn.  In comparison to current Arkansas Frameworks, Common Core Standards are more rigorous, fewer in number, and require a deeper level of complex thinking and problem solving by students.  The goal is that all students will graduate college and career ready as a result of learning the Common Core Standards throughout their years of schooling.  Assessments in each grade will inform teachers, students, and parents whether students are on track to graduate both college and career ready.  To learn more about the Common Core Standards Initiative, click on the following link. http://www.corestandards.org/the-standards

Bentonville teachers in grades K-2 are already learning about the Common Core Standards in preparation for teaching them in 2011-2012.  Bentonville teachers in grades 5 –8 have a year to learn about the Common Core Standards before they must be ready to teach the new standards in school year 2012-2013. BHS teachers must be ready to implement the Common Core Standards beginning in 2013-2014 school year.
